The power of the crowd and mummy bloggers

Rafiki Mwema is a therapeutic home for children in Kenya founded by Anne-Marie and John Tipper.

They are totally committed to supporting children who have experienced sexual abuse and to help them heal their trauma through residential therapeutic parenting.

Rafiki Mwema raised over $153,000 in 36 hours using the power of crowdfunding.....and mummy bloggers.

To be successful in a crowdfunding campaign you need a crowd of potential donors to react and respond to your campaign and make a donation.

"Crowdfunding is a way of successfully funding a project with small pledges or donations from a large pool of people, using online communication and social media channels to generate the reach needed to achieve the funding goal."

Where do you find this elusive "crowd"?

Your crowd starts at those supporters closest to your cause and moves out in concentric circles. To break into the elusive third and fourth layers of potential donors you need a great campaign, and if you are lucky, an influencer.

This fabulous Australian charity supporting African children had the ultimate influencer in Perth mummy blogger Constance Hall, mother of 5 who shares her life with over 1.1 million followers on Facebook.

Constance called and they answered.

With one Facebook post, 4369 people donated an average of $35 and counting...

And that is how it is done!
