The importance of social proofing and building trust with potential donors

If you want a person to support your cause, then ideally you should strive to be as transparent and as informative as possible. One way to reassure your donors that you have good intentions is to connect your charity’s social media accounts to your mycause campaign.

Get connected

If you provide a link to your facebook account for example, then donors are able to see the charity’s official social media account. By connecting your social media accounts to your campaign, you add an extra layer of legitimacy to your campaign, showing why your charity is raising funds and that you genuinely wish to raise funds for a good cause.

Keep people in the loop

Your charity’s social media accounts can also be harnessed to promote your fundraising efforts. By posting the link on your social media accounts with a message about why your charity is raising the funds, you provide your donors and wider network with an opportunity to support your cause.

Continue to keep your donors informed with updates on your mycause campaign - thank them for their generosity with new photos or video. By keeping in touch with your donors, you are increasing your social proofing and building trust with current or potential donors.

Social media is a fantastic tool that charities can utilise to promote their charity campaign. Please view our other blogs or further information on how charities can build their online social media presence and how charities can use online crowdfunding.
