'Gecko on the Move' is a charity which aims for students to connect, discover and create through Mathematics using manipulatives. The charity has been an active partner of the Bandari Project School in Tanzania since 2018.
In 2021, a new initiative was started and a local teacher, Zawadi, was trained and employed to facilitate and enhance the learning of Mathematics.
Besides supporting Gecko on the Move's work at the Bandari Project School, Zawadi also connects with and supports other local schools in the training and teaching of Mathematics, sharing her knowledge and expertise.
She attends Mathematics learning at international Primary Schools and shares her growing understanding of how best to teach Mathematics with her colleagues and of course puts it into practice in the classrooms.
The students, teachers and local community have benefitted tremendously from having a dedicated Maths Teacher and we would love to continue the initiative with your generous support.
Zawadi is solely funded by donations and her wage plus expenses are around A$4000/year. Let's keep her teaching!
Funds donated to the My Cause Gift Fund will be disbursed to The Bandari Project. The trustees will always disburse funds to the nominated cause, however in the case that that is not possible, the funds will be disbursed to a DGR charity at the trustees discretion.
