Year 10 Charity Sleepout for Youth Homelessness

Hi, I'm Julia. On the 20th March 2020, my grade at St Mary's Anglican Girls' School is sleeping out on our netball courts, with just a pillow, sleeping bag and piece of card board to raise money for Anglicare WA's Street Connect. St Mary's has raised over $100,000 for Street Connect in nearly 10 years, and our grade is trying to beat the record of the current year 12's at St Marys and have over 160 girls sleep out. My personal goal is to raise over $800, to beat the record for money raised by a single student.

Street Connect is a program that aims to make connections with marginalised young people who gather regularly in public places and engage them in positive life changes. Over 50% of homeless are under 25, and street connect provide a bus with food, sleeping bags, necessity kits and many other essentials.

I am hoping sleeping on our netball courts will make me see how grateful I am to have stable housing to go home to everyday.
