About

The Huon Valley Mid-Winter Fest Pilgrimage is an epic 40 km trek raising funds for crisis and emergency accommodation for the homeless and near homeless in Hobart. The pilgrimage begins in the historic Hobart CBD and traverses its way over two days, with one night spent flanking the beautiful kunanyi/Mt Wellington and on to the amazing Willie Smith''s Mid Winter Festival site in Grove. The trek will pass through rugged environments, with the potential for driving snow, tenacious winds, and freezing conditions! We''re aiming to raise over $25 000!!

Donations from this project will go directly to Hobart Women's Shelter and Bethlehem House in Hobart. Money raised will be used to assist shelters in helping residents to find their feet outside of crisis and emergency accommodation. Projects will include developing training facilities to assist Bethlehem House residents in developing work and life skills. Donations to Hobart Women's Shelter will assist in the creation of child play facilities to ensure residents opportunities to concentrate on getting back on their feet while having children with them at the shelter.

Participants on the pilgrimage will spend a very cold night embracing Hobarts wintery conditions, like many people in Hobart are forced to endure on a day-to-day basis. The Pilgrimage hopes to highlight the pressure being placed on crisis and emergency accommodation in Hobart due to current housing shortages.

The Pilgrimage is a joint project between Wild Pedder Adventure Tours and Willie Smith''s Apple Shed, proudly supporting Hobart Women''s Shelter and Bethlehem House.
