Thank you for visiting our Fundraising Page for the 2014 Dragons Abreast Festival.
This will be our 3rd year competing in the Dragons Abreast Festival. The first year the hospital was represented by an all-female team, last year we recruited 6 male staff members to join our team which achieved a much better outcome. Burwood Oars were placed 3rd in the Hospital division. This year we plan to beat our last year's achievements.
We are a team of health professionals - nurses, doctors, psychologists, IT, administrative and hotel services staff - from St John of God Burwood Hospital. Our mental health care service is a part of the St John of God Health Care group, Australia's largest non-profit group, with 117 years in health care and recently voted number one by patients and doctors in an independent survey. Now, we want to be number one on the water, too.
The Dragons Abreast Festival, a dragon boat regatta, is the major annual fundraiser for Dragons Abreast Australia (DAA). DAA is a national not-for-profit registered charity raising breast cancer awareness through the sport of dragon boating and giving hope to those with a diagnosis of breast cancer, regardless of age, gender or sporting ability.
