Welcome to the Chasing Hope my cause page.

My name is Jacinda, my partner is Marc and together we have been blessed with two beautiful children - Nevaeh (who will be 3 in December) & Chase (15 months).

Chase has had a rough start to life and will continue to fight for a better quality of life inevitably. He was born on the 29th August 2012. Within hours of being born Chase immediately showed signs that weren’t consistent to that of a healthy baby. He began having epileptic type seizures that Dr’s could not explain. He had issues breathing on his own and he didn’t take to the breast or bottle for feeding.

Chase has undergone many invasive tests since his birth. He spent the first 4 months of his life in the Royal Brisbane Children’s Hospital & since being discharged he has been in out and of hospital constantly. He has all his meals (Liquid) through a feeding tube that goes through his nose as he cannot feed like a normal person. He had a barium swallow test done, where they found he is aspirating all liquids into his lungs. This can trigger aspiration pneumonia.
He was recently diagnosed with Epileptic Encephalopathy with evidence of hypertonic quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and Microcephaly. In layman’s terms he suffers from daily seizures, Cerebral Palsy that affects all 4 limbs & Neurodevelopmental disorder. Due to his condition he is also at very high risk of getting Scoliosis.

Unlike most children his age, Chase cannot sit, walk or even crawl. He spends majority of his day lying down, when he isn’t being held by myself or Marc. Chase is in desperate need of a customised chair that he can sit in for correct posture & mobility. The waiting list through the public system is currently a minimum of 8 months. Dr’s have advised that it is in Chase’ best interest that we get him the chair as soon as we can, as his back is already showing early stages of spinal damage.
We are hoping that with the help of our support network and beyond we can help provide these items for Chase as soon as possible. Chase deserves a better quality of life and we truly believe that getting him mobile will help tremendously. No gift is too small and none too large. Your thoughtfulness and support are greatly appreciated.

It has been a difficult year for our little family & we would'nt have pulled through had it not been for the love and support of friends and family. Chase has been so courageous and has definitely been an inspiration to many including myself and Marc. He is loved to the moon and back by his little sister Nevaeh who loves helping mummy take care of him, bless her.
