Dear Prospective Donators,
We 17 riders and two support crew are undertaking a challenge of bone shaking proportions by riding
the Gibb River Road from Kununurra to Broome via the Mitchell Falls (accessible by very little, most
of the time) on our postie bikes. This includes 659 km's on the famed Gibb River Road plus another
500 km or so (if we're lucky to and from the Falls), with a number of river crossings and
challenging dirt tracks along the way. From there the path is softer for the boys with 222 km on the
Great Northern Highway, on the postie bikes over 7 days (hopefully).
So far (we embark on the 1st of June) we have organised the beer (Emu Export Cans), custom (home)
paint jobs and aftermarket exhaust systems. Emergency medical supplies and communications equipment
are still being pieced together, as is the actual route we are taking. Big 'N' Chunky soup selection
includes Beef Stockpot, Chilli Meatballs and Peppered Steak.
Some bikes are hotted up, some are not (and won't make the journey) and we are all ugly - but the
cause
is what matters (and all and sundry returning unscathed or as whole as possible).
Preparations aside, we are raising money for the Inspire Foundation whose aim is to assist youths
lead a more fulfilling and happy life. Since 1997, suicide remains the leading cause of death among
young people aged 14 -25. 1 in 4 young
Australians lives with a mental illness and we were all young once!
So please give generously and help young people to better understand and taken care of their mental
health and well being.
