Support Bronx with his heartworm treatment.
A pound on the Mid North Coast contacted Iron Dog Rescue about Bronx.
Bronx was transported from the Port Macquarie Animal Shelter thanks to the wonderful Dogmovers Pet Transport , which generously shared the transport costs with Iron Dog Rescue, which is greatly appreciated, especially given the rising fuel prices.
Upon his arrival at Iron Dog Rescue, Bronx underwent a health check. He was scheduled for desexing and some standard medical checks, which include a heartworm test. Unfortunately, the test came back positive for heartworm.
Over the next 12 months, Bronx's activity will be limited, especially during the first 3 months, as he begins his treatment. He has already started his medication, along with blood tests and the necessary injections to eliminate the heartworm infestation. Follow-up tests will be conducted to ensure that the infestation has been fully eradicated.
Treating heartworm can be risky, and some dogs may not survive the treatment. The outcome largely depends on the individual dog, the severity of the infestation.
