My father-in-law Gav was diagnosed with Parkinson's at just 38 years old.....
He's now 51, and over the past 13 years I've had the privilege of watching how he carries himself through everything Parkinson's has thrown at him. He never complains. He never lets it define him. He's out at the farm tinkering, on the golf course, or heading out fishing, and I'm lucky enough to share a lot of those moments with him.
This October, I'm running 10 laps around the Nepean River for Gav, because he deserves to be celebrated for the strength and resilience he's shown throughout his journey. I'm also running for everyone else living with Parkinson's, and for the families who walk alongside them every day.
Lap it Up for Parkinson's is happening on 10 October 2026. I chose the Nepean because it's a place that means a lot to us, and because it's somewhere family, friends and anyone who wants to show their support can easily join in for a lap or two throughout the day. We'll be there all day, so come down whenever suits you.
Gav, Soph and our family will be there the whole time. More than anything, we're hoping to meet people, share stories and connect with others who have been touched by Parkinson's in some way. For us, this day is really about bringing people together and raising awareness for a condition that affects so many.
If you'd like to contribute, we'd be so grateful for anything at all. Every dollar goes directly to Parkinson's Australia to support those living with the condition and the research that gives them hope.
Thank you for being here and for helping us celebrate Gav.
