Help Us Restore Confidence, Dignity & Connection in Aged Care
Every person deserves to feel seen.
For many of us, a haircut is just another appointment in the calendar.
For someone living in residential aged care, it can be the moment they smile at their reflection for the first time in months.
It can be the confidence to join in a conversation.
The excitement of seeing family.
The feeling of being cared for, valued and remembered.
As we age, it's easy for the simple things that once brought us joy to become difficult or inaccessible. Social isolation, reduced mobility and limited opportunities for meaningful connection can quietly affect confidence and overall wellbeing.
At Catalyst for Confidence, we believe every older Australian deserves moments that remind them they are important—that they still have stories to tell, laughter to share and lives worth celebrating.
What We're Creating
Catalyst for Confidence is a volunteer-led community wellbeing initiative bringing together local hairdressers, makeup artists, movement instructors, musicians and community volunteers to create unforgettable days inside aged care communities.
Our events are designed to spark confidence, conversation and connection.
Residents will enjoy:
• Professional haircuts and hairstyling
• Gentle makeup refreshes for those who would like them
• Seated movement and dance classes suitable for all abilities
• Live music and nostalgic songs from decades they know and love
• Games, conversation and shared laughter
• A community barbecue where families, friends and volunteers come together
Because confidence isn't created by a haircut alone.
It's created when someone feels noticed.
When someone takes the time to sit beside them.
When a room full of strangers becomes a community.
Our First Goal
We're raising $5000 to deliver our first pilot event at an aged care home on the Central Coast, NSW.
This pilot will allow us to:
* Deliver a professionally organised community event at no cost to the aged care facility.
* Measure the impact on residents, families and staff.
* Capture photos, testimonials and outcomes.
* Build the evidence needed to secure grants, sponsors and long-term partnerships.
Our dream is for this single event to become a model that can be replicated in aged care communities across Australia.
Where Your Donation Goes
Every dollar directly supports our pilot event.
Your donation helps fund:
* Hairdressing equipment and consumables
* Beauty products and hygiene supplies
* Food and refreshments
* Community activity resources
* Event insurance and operating costs
* Printing and promotional materials
* Photography and videography to document the impact and support future fundraising
If we exceed our fundraising goal, every additional dollar will help us bring Catalyst for Confidence to another aged care community.
Why I Started Catalyst for Confidence
Hi, I'm Rosa.
For more than 25 years I've worked as a hairdresser, choreographer, performer, fitness instructor and educator.
Throughout my career, I've watched confidence transform lives.
I've seen people stand taller after a haircut.
Smile wider after hearing their favourite song.
Feel free after they have danced and feel strong after they have trained.
Find joy simply because someone made time for them.
Those moments inspired me to create Catalyst for Confidence—a project that combines everything I've learned throughout my career into something that gives back to the community.
My vision is simple:
To create experiences that help people feel confident, connected and genuinely cared for.
Our Vision
This first pilot is only the beginning.
Our long-term goal is to partner with aged care communities across the Central Coast, Sydney and beyond, creating regular volunteer-led wellbeing events that strengthen social connection and celebrate older Australians.
Every event will be guided by the same three values:
**Confidence. Connection. Community.**
Because growing older should never mean becoming invisible.
How You Can Help
Whether you give $10 or $1,000, every contribution brings us one step closer to making this first event a reality.
If you're unable to donate, sharing our campaign with friends, family or your workplace can make just as much of a difference.
Together, we can create a day filled with smiles, conversation, music, laughter and moments that remind older Australians they are valued, respected and deeply appreciated.
Thank you for believing in our vision.
