Sometimes, the people who give the most… are the ones who never ask for anything in return.
Carmen Scull, from Bridgewater near Bendigo in Victoria, has been part of the Weedy Garden journey in a way that goes far beyond watching from a screen. She’s left beautiful, heartfelt comments that have lifted the spirit of this project — and more than that, she’s shown up.
Carmen has travelled thousands of kilometres across Australia to be part of the makeovers, giving her time, her energy, and her hands to help build gardens for others. She’s been there, quietly contributing, every step of the way.
And now… it’s her turn.
Together with her daughter Willa — who many of you met in the last video — Carmen and her family have been selected to receive the next Weedy Garden makeover. This is a small way of giving back to a family who has given so much to this community.
As a community, we’re coming together to create a garden for Carmen and Willa — a space designed to suit their land, their climate, and their life. A place where food can grow, soil can heal, and something meaningful can take root for years to come.
To bring this project to life, we’re aiming to raise $10,000, which will cover the core costs of the makeover, including:
* Materials (soil, timber, plants, irrigation, and systems)
* Tools and equipment
* Transport and logistics
* Travel and fuel
* Food and support for the incredible volunteers who make these projects possible
This is the foundation that allows the transformation to happen.
If we’re fortunate enough to raise more than the $10,000 goal, those additional funds will go toward supporting the Weedy Garden itself — helping fund future makeovers, ongoing content creation, and the time, energy, and resources needed to keep sharing these stories with the world.
What started as a small garden and a camera has grown into something much bigger — a community of people who believe in reconnecting with nature, growing real food, and supporting one another.
Now, that community comes together for Carmen.
And you’re invited to be part of it.
Thank you very much for your support — and please share this community cause with your gardening friends to help this project get roots :-) 🌱
