Kia Ora Whanau,
My brother in-law Tala, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Gastric Cancer.
After months of deteriorating sickness, unable to eat, drink and be a productive member of society, as well as drastically losing 55kg’s in 3 months, we received the dreaded diagnoses.
It has been an extremely emotional, painful and overwhelming journey for Tala, his wife Ash (my sister) and their 4 kids, Alexis, Blayke, Tiotala and Emmerson.
He’s currently undergoing radiation with chemotherapy and immunotherapy about to start, at Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne, VIC.
Watching the love and support around Ash and Tala during this time has been incredibly moving. People from all parts of Tala’s life have shown up with kindness, messages, visits, food, and care and it’s made such a real difference. It’s lifted them on the hardest days and is a true reflection of how deeply loved they are.
Ash and Tala are the last people who would ever ask for help, so we’re making this on their behalf, and with their blessing. So many people have reached out asking how they can support, and while continuing to do what we can as whanau, we wanted to open up a way for those who feel they can and want to help.
While we’re so grateful that Tala’s treatment is covered, the everyday costs without Tala working and Ash being at his bedside every day, are adding up. We completely understand how tough times are for everyone right now, so there’s absolutely no expectation but if you are in a position to help by donating, it would go toward their ongoing rent, petrol, groceries, as well as the kids wants and needs.
Thank you again to everyone who has stood beside and shown up for them and the kids. You’ve all made more of an impact than you may ever realise 💛
With so much aroha,
Taylor
