Shave the Stigma
The time has come for a new hairstyle — so let’s do it for a cause. I’ll be shaving my head along with others including Launceston Council alderman Joe Pentridge, Co-founder of The Go company Logan Barnett ,Wired Electrical Tas Service and Minor Works Manager Jason Sherriff plus others to help shave the stigma around mental health, and of course, Logan and I will be donating our hair as part of it to the Hair With Heart program ran by Variety.
Too many people are still struggling in silence, especially blokes. We’re good at showing up for work, sports, and everyone else — but not always great at speaking up when things get heavy. That’s where conversations matter.
We are raising money for Speak Up Stay Chatty, a charity that does exactly what the name says — encourages real conversations, connection, and checking in on each other before things reach breaking point.
The hair will grow back. The impact of a conversation can last a lifetime.
If you can donate, that’s amazing and hugely appreciated.
If you can’t donate but still want to help out — come shave with me. Get in touch, jump on board, and be part of it.
On April 26, We are planning a live shave at The Boathouse Launceston. Come down from 2-4pm, watch the shave, grab a beer, have a laugh and most importantly — have a yarn. It’s about creating a space where people feel comfortable to talk, connect, and check in on each other.
Thanks for backing this, spreading the word, and looking out for each other.
Speak up. Stay chatty.
