One in five (20%) Australians aged 16-85 experience a mental illness in any year. Of the 20% of Australians with a mental illness in any one year, 11.5% have one disorder and 8.5% have two or more disorders. Almost half (45%) Australians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime.
Throughout January, I will be challenging myself to run 3km everyday to raise awareness for mental health in Australia.
All funds go directly to ReachOut Australia, a nation-wide helpline who have the goal to improve mental health and wellbeing for all young people. They provide a safe, anonymous, and confidential online space where young people (aged 5-25) can find resources, connect with peer support, and build resilience to manage challenges.
Whether you'd like to join me for a run, or put in a donation to the cause, all forms of contribution would be greatly appreciated. Together, we can put an end to this statistic.
