Whack MS for 6! — Support Jemma Barsby and a Breakthrough MS Treatment
#WhackMS | #MS46 | #StopMS
Australian cricket star Jemma Barsby is stepping up to champion a cause close to her heart: helping bring to life a potential breakthrough treatment that could change the future for people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Jemma is supporting NeuOrphan, an Australian biotech developing Dioprotectome — a new oral therapy that has shown the potential to repair and remyelinate damaged nerve fibres and protect them from further immune attack. In animal models, this small-molecule therapy has demonstrated the ability to:
-Protect insulated nerve fibres from immune-driven damage
-Repair those fibres through remyelination
-Potentially halt or even reverse the course of MS
Despite 19 FDA-approved MS drugs, none directly repair the nerve damage that drives long-term disability. This leaves a major therapeutic gap — one Dioprotectome aims to fill.
About the Campaign: Whack MS for 6
Whack MS for 6 is a national call to action inviting Australians — especially the cricket and wider sporting community — to back this groundbreaking research by contributing $100 each and celebrating the viral 6 phenomenon.
The goal is simple and powerful:
60,000 Australians × $100 = $6 million
This will fund the manufacture of Dioprotectome and its Phase 2 human trial, bringing this promising therapy one crucial step closer to helping patients.
Why Your Support Matters
Dioprotectome represents hope not only for long-term disease change, but for real symptom relief for people living with MS — something current therapies cannot offer. For Jemma, she needs to take drugs (Gilenya) every 24-48 hours just to function, let alone crashing with chronic fatigue, dizziness, blurred vision and pins and needles after every cricket game
By supporting Jemma’s campaign, you are helping accelerate a treatment that could transform lives, giving people with MS the chance to reclaim mobility, independence, and confidence.
