This page has been created for our gorgeous Kayla who is 16 years old this month of November. Daughter of my brother Adam and his wife Mel. Sister of Jayden and their wagging tail dog, Roxy.
2018, A rollercoaster journey started with Kayla being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) at just 8 years old. Our bubbly, energetic soul was prodded and poked with Blood tests, Bone marrow tests, Chemotherapy, Radiation, Pathology appointments, Spinal taps and strangers. This day of diagnosis was also the day they were meant to be flying to the UK for a dream family trip. Instead of their packed suitcases heading onto a plane, they were sent to Ronald McDonald House....
2020 came remission and life was getting back to their new 'normal'.
March 2022, devastating news....Kayla had relapsed & once again needed treatment for Leukemia. With the rollercoaster speeding up AGAIN, this time, the treatment regime was more intense than in 2018 & continued on for a period of 12 months. During this relapse, Kayla spent 7 months up at Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick.
June 2024 surgery to remove her portacath! Freedom!
October 2025.. the gutwrenching, devastating news of another relapse. This time in her bone marrow. They are faced with a rough plan of another 9 months in Randwick, the portcath is back in, bags packed and Kayla returning to Ronald McDonald House with Adam & Mel to begin treatment yet again, leaving Jay at home.
As we all would in this situation, life just stops and the focus is on getting your precious person well again.
The emotional and financial stress is overwhelming. Mel and Adam need each other's support in order to support Kayla. These funds will help them stay together, ease the burden of lost work and support their mental & emotional health during this heartbreaking time.
