Hi everyone,
We’re reaching out as Clare’s close friends – because she’s facing an unimaginable challenge: a breast cancer diagnosis during her family holiday.
Clare, her husband and their two young children live in the Highlands of Scotland but recently returned to Australia to be with family and friends. It was supposed to be a happy visit, but everything changed when Clare discovered a lump in her breast.
Her diagnosis – an invasive lobular carcinoma – has come as a shock to us all. Doctors in Australia have urged her to start treatment now so she’s surrounded by family during surgery and recovery.
Clare and her family were only meant to be here on holiday, leaving work and daily life behind in Scotland. Clare, a flower farmer, and her husband, a self-employed artist, have no income in Australia, and their travel insurance has only covered initial tests and will not continue through to treatment.
Every day is now about covering essentials - food, accommodation, transport, clothing (they only packed for a few weeks away!) and helping their kids feel stable in a foreign place while Clare starts treatment. They’re asking for a little help from friends, family and kind-hearted people near and far.
We’re hoping to raise enough to cover living costs and family accommodation during Clare’s treatment, so whatever you can give – whether it’s a donation or just sharing Clare’s story – will make such a difference. We all want her family to feel surrounded by support, no matter where they are.
Thank-you, from the bottom of our hearts.
Love,
Clare’s friends and family.
