Rob's Camino de Santiago Walkathon
I am walking the Camino de Santiago from St Jean Per De Port in France to the Cathedral of Santiago Di Compostela along the north of Spain. A distance of 780km in honour of my late wife, Alex. I am doing an old school walkathon to raise funds to support The Mary Potter Foundation. Mary Potter Hospice looked after and provided my wife and my family the best care and dignity at our time of need. Alex and I always wanted to complete the Camino de Santiago together. In her honour, after losing her to bowel cancer in October 2021, I hope to be on the Camino to Commemorate four years of her passing. The walk has many facets for me personally. I hope to raise funds for the Hospice, after deciding that all the recent and miraculous advances in Cancer care are well and good, I can assure you all that there are families entering the Hospice on a daily basis need the greatest level of support and care imaginable. The Camino will test me physically, taking 35 to 40 days, so I’m looking for a sense of achievement for myself. The Camino has been a religious pilgrimage since the Middle Ages and I hope to rekindle my faith as part of the journey also. All funds raised (100%) will go directly to The Mary Potter Foundation, to help with the amazing support they offer families day in and day out.
