About

Conference organisers are excited to announce that Ecosocialism 2025 is set to host the biggest delegation of Asia-Pacific activists the conference has seen since it was initiated in 2019. But to make this possible, we need your help!

Under the theme, Ecosocialism not Barbarism, Ecosocialism 2025 will feature activists from Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, South Korea and the United States.

Organisers are working to ensure that at least ten activists from across the region attend the conference in Naarm/Melbourne over September 5-7. But to make this a reality, we need your financial support. That is why we are launching a MyCause campaign to ask for donations to fund activists from the region to attend Ecosocialism 2025.

The priority of conference organisers has always been to invite genuine people’s organisations from neighbouring Global South countries involved in grassroots activism, rather than academics or NGO officials. While the latter can often rely on external funding sources for regular trips abroad, these organisations have very little resources, meaning conference organisers have to cover their travel costs to ensure their participation.

We think this is a cost that is necessary to bear. Australia’s strategic location in the region and close alliance with US imperialism, means activists here share an important responsibility to build links with others in the Asia-Pacific campaigning for peace with justice and against the US-led regional war drive.

That is why we have placed increasing importance on inviting groups from the region to come and share their experiences at Ecosocialism. But as the number of representatives grows, so do the costs.

This year we hope to welcome at the conference:
* Amanda Shweeta Louis and Gandipan Nantha Gopalan from the Socialist Party of Malaysia,
* Merck Maguddayao from the Party of the Labouring Masses (the Philippines),
* Mahendra Kusuma Wardhana and Rizaldi Ageng Wicaksono from the Socialist Union (Indonesia),
* N Sai Balaji from the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation,
* Ammar Ali Jan from the People’s Rights Party (Pakistan)
* Youngsu Won from Pnyx — Korean Institute for Marxist Studies,
*And a representative from the Bread & Roses caucus inside the Democratic Socialists of America and a progressive organisation in Singapore.

But this will only be possible with your help. Please consider making a contribution towards building a strong movement for peace with justice in the region by helping get these activists to Ecosocialism 2025.
