The goal of this crowdfunding campaign is to address food safety issues in the Philippines through a multi-platform awareness initiative. By leveraging social media campaigns, blogging and video creation, the project will educate the public, promote best practices, and advocate for stronger food safety policies. The campaign will target consumers, food vendors, and policymakers to create a culture of food safety awareness. Dencelle Mercines, our Digital Marketing Coordinator, is well-positioned in Metro Manila to execute this campaign, has the local understanding to provide culturally appropriate content and can build links and partnerships with organisations/individuals in the Philippines. ---------- There are a range of key food safety issues in the Philippines, that need to be addressed. We will focus on these three important steps that lead to mortality, morbidity and the overall burden of (including economic) of foodborne disease. It all starts with poor hygiene practices... - Lack of handwashing and sanitation among food handlers. - Unsafe food preparation and storage conditions. ...which leads to food and drink contamination... - Contamination from bacteria, viruses, and parasites due to improper handling. - Use of contaminated water in food preparation. ... that ultimately to foodborne disease. - High incidence of diarrhoea, typhoid, and hepatitis A due to unsafe food consumption. - Lack of awareness about symptoms and prevention. ---------- This is how we plan to address these issues: 1. Social Media Campaigns - Platforms: Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. - Themes and their associated hashtags: - #SafePlatePH: Share infographics, tips, and stories about food safety. - #FoodSafetyFacts: Post bite-sized facts about food handling, storage, and hygiene. - #VendorHeroes: Highlight food vendors who practice excellent food safety standards. - Content: - Infographics on proper handwashing, food storage, and cooking temperatures. - Interactive polls and quizzes to engage followers. - User-generated content: Encourage followers to share their food safety practices. 2. Blogging - Platform: On our website and partnerships with popular Filipino lifestyle and health blogs. - Themes: - "From Farm to Fork": Articles on the journey of food and where safety can be compromised. - "Spotlight on Street Food": Discussing the risks and best practices for street food vendors. - "Food Safety Myths vs. Facts": Debunking common misconceptions. - Some content ideas: - Interviews with food safety experts, farmers, and vendors. - Step-by-step guides on safe food preparation and storage. - Case studies of foodborne illness outbreaks and lessons learned. 3. Video Creation - Platforms: YouTube videos and shorts, Facebook and Instagram reels.. - Themes: - "How Safe is Your Food?": Investigative videos exposing unsafe practices in markets and restaurants. - "Food Safety 101": Tutorials on proper food handling, cooking, and storage. - "Meet the Experts": Interviews with food safety inspectors, nutritionists, and chefs. - Content: - Short, engaging videos (60-90 seconds) for YouTube shorts and Instagram/Facebook reels. - Longer, in-depth documentaries (5-10 minutes) for YouTube too. - Animated explainer videos on topics like cross-contamination and food labelling.
