Help Glen Continue His Fight Against Cancer

We are reaching out on behalf of Glen Dehring – a loving husband, father, pop, son, father-in-law and friend – who has spent his life giving to others. Whether through his family, friendships, or contributions to the sporting community, Glen has always been there to support and uplift those around him. Now, he needs our help.

In January 2023, Glen was diagnosed with Stage 4 rectal and liver cancer. Since then, he has fought with everything he has – enduring countless rounds of chemotherapy, radically changing his diet and lifestyle and exploring holistic treatments. Thanks to the generosity of so many, a previous fundraiser helped him get this far, and he has continued to push forward with unwavering determination.

In May 2024, Glen underwent radiation on his liver and, since then, his physical, mental and emotional health have been in steady decline. The chemotherapy that was meant to save him is now destroying him – leaving him bedridden, exhausted and barely able to keep fighting. The strong, selfless and full-of-life man we all know is fading before our eyes. As of December 2024, he was forced to resign from work because he physically couldn’t continue, placing an enormous financial strain on his family at the worst possible time.

Despite everything, Glen still has hope.

He now has the opportunity to receive cutting-edge alternative cancer treatment at Verita Life in Thailand, a program that has helped so many in his position. This 8-week treatment costs $10,000 per week and may be his last chance to turn this around.

Glen has always been the kind of person who puts others first, and he has so many caring and thoughtful people in his life. He would never ask for more, but this is his life we are talking about. We are asking for your help one more time. Any donation, big or small, will go directly toward his treatment and give him the chance to keep fighting. For those who are unaware, Glen excelled at football and cricket. He played in the WA Schoolboys football team in 1986, was Captain of WA Under 18s in 1988 and went on to play 23 WAFL League games for Swan Districts. He later coached the Eaton Boomers Football Club and Preston Thunder Junior Football Club. On the cricket field, Glen took a pathway through the WA Under 17s and WA Under 19s and was a Subiaco-Floreat Premier League player. He is perhaps the greatest WA Country XI player and took part in nine tours for three championship wins – seven of those tours as Captain. He was named Australian Country XI Captain and Member of 25 Year Best Australian Country XI Team. Glen has given over 35 years of service to Marist Cricket Club as a player, coach, captain and mentor, together with 4 years as coach of Eaton Cricket Club.

This treatment has given Glen hope – hope that he can share a future with his beautiful wife, kids and grandkids. After everything he has given to others, let’s come together and give him the fighting chance he deserves.
