On the morning of the Australia Day public holiday (Monday 27th of January) a bushfire started near Dimboola, in Victoria's west, which has now burnt through 65,000 hectares of land, including the Little Desert Nature Lodge. The Lodge has been completely destroyed, and while Mick, the Lodge's caretaker, and his family evacuated the site in time with all of the animals, their home which was on the Lodge's property was also lost to the fire.
