100km Bike Ride - Empowering Afghan Girls & Women Through Education & Employment

My friends and I are cycling 100km from Brisbane to Gold Coast on Sunday 13 October 2024, to support a cause very close to our hearts: empowering Afghan girls and women through education & employment.


The Crisis:

The Taliban's ban on education for girls and women in Afghanistan has sparked global outrage yet much inaction. Despite international condemnation, the Taliban have persisted in their oppressive policies, leading to a crackdown on those who oppose the ban. This has resulted in increased violence, arbitrary arrests, and even fatalities.

Our Goal:

This campaign aims to empower Afghan women by providing them with the resources required to pursue education and work. Through financial grants, scholarships, academic assistance, and employment opportunities, the Forotan Foundation aims to break the barriers that prevent girls from accessing education and employment. In addition, we will also provide essential resources such as food, clothing, and shelter to address immediate needs and create a sustainable pathway to a brighter future for Afghan girls and women.

Your Impact:

With your support, the following initiatives will be made possible:

• 1-year school scholarship per person = $230
• 1 Sewing machine = $100 - $150 (enabling employment opportunities)
• 3 meals per day = ~$4.50
