On October 5, 2024 I will be running in the Sydney Backyard Ultra in an attempt to run my first ever 100km ultra marathon.
Throughout my training and race I will be raising funds and awareness for Lifeline, in memory of a close friend and incredible human, Angus Bownes.
Angus was an adventurous outdoors man. He was a committed athlete, embarking on many hikes, triathlons, runs, cycles, paddles and swims. He never did anything without a smile and always helped others along the way.
Tragically we lost Angus in May 2024, at the age of 29. In honour of Angus I want to take myself out of my comfort zone and push my body to run 100km. Lifeline is a charity which does crucial work in suicide presentation. For anyone in a position to donate, you will help provide support to people across all of Australia who are feeling overwhelmed, lonely or facing a personal battle.
The Sydney Backyard Ultra will be held at St Ives Showgrounds on Oct 5. Whether you are able to donate or not, I would love to see all your faces at the event to help get me across the line.
Lifeline is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. We exist so that no person in Australia has to face their toughest moments alone.
