Dairy goat bucklings have very little value in their industry and are often euthanised or “dispatched” at birth. Hunter Valley Goat Hire have been working with local dairy goat producers and taking on these bucklings to giving them a life and purpose as vegetation management specialists. Percy, a gorgeous little Toggenburg triplet, was one of these little guys. Unfortunately, he died at a month old from an abasomal bloat. His passing rocked the team at HVGH as he was very loved, and spurred them on to keep saving these boys, even when it was difficult. In 2023, 56 baby goats were raised by HVGH. In 2024, this number is expected to be larger. HVGH doesn’t have the infrastructure to safely raise the bucklings expected for 2024 so we are reaching out for help to establish a not for profit group that funds the care and health requirements for these bucklings. Amazingly, we have been gifted the use of a property in Lovedale NSW and now need to raise enough funds to fit it out, pay the bills, cover nutrition and vet care costs, and workforce the operation. Once established, Percy’s Place will aim to be financially self sufficient through ongoing donations and community events and fundraising.
Thank you for saving these babies 💜
