Tasmania's Tarkine is a mossy, magical place; an enchanted forest framed by buttongrass moorlands and a rugged, rarely seen coastline. The wilderness spans a huge area. The Tarkine is Australia’s largest temperate rainforest and the second largest temperate rainforest in the world. One of Earth’s last great wild places, it urgently deserves secure, permanent protection as a World Heritage-listed National Park.
All this would be lost if the Chinese state-owned heavy metals waste dump is allowed to proceed.
Amelia, Miranda, and their crew are running 42 km from Binna Burra to O'Reilly's in Lamington, QLD, and back, to focus the spotlight on this special place. The Tarkine has the cleanest air in the world, is home to many rare and endangered species, and has one of the highest concentrations of Aboriginal sites in the southern hemisphere.
Please support them! With a surging climate and biodiversity crisis, protecting the Tarkine's rainforests, wild coastline, tall eucalyptus forests, rivers, creeks and wildlife, is more urgent than ever before!
