From 1997-2020 there have been 1600 certified veteran suicides. This Anzac day to raise awareness for veteran mental health I will be completing 1810 push ups, one for every veteran suicide 1997 - 2023. This year money raised will go to the Australian Veterans Brain Bank. The AVBB is a tissue bank dedicated to research on disorders of the brain in Australian Defence Force Veterans, an increased understanding of different types of head trauma in military settings (blast related traumatic brain injury, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, etc) will better diagnose, prevent and treat complex types of brain diseases in veterans. As a soldier who served for 10 years I have been exposed to blast overpressure from explosive charges and heavy weapons. Support and awareness in this space is something I'm passionate about and on the 25th April I will be pledging my brain for donation. I encourage other veterans to consider donating their brain to AVBB.
