THE SCORE: I was an award-winning, messed-up comedian for 13 years, then had a healing crisis and ended up going down the plant medicine and healing path for the next seven years. In these last seven years I trained as a shaman (I know right?). During this time I explored a multitude of plant medicine, spiritual practises and therapeutic modalities in the pursuit of healing, happiness and spiritual awakening. I was about to head to Gabon this year to undergo my Bwiti initiation when the medicine path came to a sudden and unexpected end and I realised this chapter of my life was over. I was like WTF? In this liminal space I went back onstage for the first time in years and it felt great. The demons that had once obstructed me were no longer there. It was time to get the hell back onstage and make fun of shit in this increasingly bizarre world as it heads towards some weird and potentially terrible singularity. So life has come full circle. I'm going back to standup comedy to write a show about gees, whatever the fuck is funny i guess! This may include stuff that happened to me in the last seven years, the healing path and what the hell is going on right now in the world, cause in case you haven't noticed, things are pretty fucken cooked right now. I have been gigging now for about six months and having not performed for six years, it's a bit like learning how to walk again. The muscle memory is still there, it's just hard to predict how long it will take me to get back to the point where i can perform a solid hour long show. At this point I'm guessing it will be ready to tour by 2026. As well as this I will be applying myself to the social media aspect of the job, as this seems to be a necessary part of the equation of being a comedian these days and something I never did back in the first phase of my career. Most likely this will be oriented around developing a podcast, youtube clips, shorts and all the rest of it. I will be experimenting a bit with finding which avenue works best for my style as well as working out which avenues are the most beneficial for directing my time, money and energy towards. I have also finished my first novel 'NO MO TRIPPIN' and have begun doing book launches around the country. It's basically a genexers comedic take on the healing and spiritual awakening path via psychedelic plants. Think 'Eat, Pray, Love' but with dick jokes and trip reports. THE AIM I have two aims: 1. Create a top quality stand up show to tour. 2. Create/find an audience who will enjoy it. OK WHAT'S THE RUB ALREADY: Both of these aims require some level of funding. All proceeds, small or large, will go towards either the costs involved for developing and then touring this show (eg. room hire, registration, travel fees, accommodation, advertising, marketing and living expenses) or the development of the social media wing of this project (hiring a professional producer for my podcast, creating short clips, youtube stuff, hiring a social media marketer etc..) You can give me a one-off donation or regular donations, small or big however you wish. I'm currently researching the various avenues and road maps towards achieving my aims, so the exact strategy is still being developed and there will be some degree of trial and error. As well as that, as the rubber hits the road, these strategies may change. However, i promise you that the aims will remain the same! Thanks!
