Pepper Pups Last High Five

Pepper crossed the rainbow bridge on Tuesday. An inoperable mass was found and nothing was to be done.
Pepper was homed to a family on a farm in 2018. People I thought of as friends and who would look after her. They did not.
I was contacted earlier in the year to see if I could take pepper back as the family wanted to travel. At that time I couldn't.
By October this year I was ready to be able to rehome her if needed and she was brought home after the old owner told me she had attacked a neighbours cat. I have cats in my home already and knew with some love and attention and training, the old Pepper would be back and I could maybe lessen her prey drive.
The first night she was home, she cried trying to toilet. I assumed it was from the change of diet...farm food to royal canin might not have settled with her. I messaged the old owners to ask if there had been any issues with diet and was told no..So I called our vet and was advised to seek soft foods and come get some laxapet. So I did. It helped for one night, then the screaming in pain began. All I could do was get pain medication to try and help her as constipation was thought to be the issue.
I was attending a baby shower approx 3 weeks ago and my son called me to say the old owners were there and they had found a lump on peppers butt under her hair.
When I got home, I looked where they told me to and could see it. I called the vet immediately and was told to bring her in. They shaved the mass and took a biopsy and gave me stronger pain medication to help her settle. As soon as he said he wasn't giving me antibiotics, I knew it wasn't going to be good.
Back to inboxes I go, asking for help from the owner. I had just paid $634 in bills and was left broke with children to feed. I was promised they would help. And nothing. No help but just silence until I messaged saying what a low blow that was, the silence.
I was given a story about her phone missing even though I had screen captured her activity with each message I sent. Liars are the worst.
The biopsy came back as cancer and it was inoperable. The vet said it looked to be at least 6 months in growth size if he was to estimate.
All I can think is they knew it was there and brought her to me to fix.
I have asked them outright and they swear they didn't know. They said they found the lump because Pepper liked to be touched down her tail. The mass was near ber butt hole. I dont know any dog that likes being touched there, but I digress.
The only thing left was to take Pepper home and care for her until she either stopped toileting or I was ready to let her go. I couldn't let her stay in the pain she was, so I borrowed money again to cover what the old owner should have helped me with like she said. I can't believe humans can do this to such sweet souls who count on them. I would go into debt, and have done, to do the right thing.
Her at home Farewell cost $600, and another $350 for cremation.
I know I shouldn't be here asking for help, but I don't have anyone else to ask. Just you, people with humanity still.
I am asking for you to help me help Pepper rest in the peace she deserves and to show others, we are not like them. We are the Earthside Angels.
