My name is James and I own Gourmet Food Distributors. If you don’t know me you will know Adam my Manager. Adam has been a part of the Gourmet Food Team for over a decade. He is one of the most thoughtful, honest, and decent human beings I have ever had the pleasure of calling my friend.
Adam is a Dad to 3 beautiful kids. The eldest is 12 year old Willow.
On the 2nd July Willow was taken to hospital when her Mum noticed her eyes had become jaundice. Over the coming week her condition deteriorated and became critical. The doctors at John Hunter Hospital were unable to find the cause of her sickness, but speculated it was rhinovirus (the common cold) which had started to attack her liver.
9 Days later she was transferred to Westmead Children’s Hospital where the doctor’s advised Willows condition had worsened again. Willow was in liver failure and would need a transplant. Willow went from a healthy pre-teen to dying child in the space of 2 weeks.
She now faces months of recovery and a lifetime of follow-up support. Willow will remain on immunosuppressant medication for life. This will leave her ultra susceptible to all the illnesses in her environment, as well as increase her chances of developing health complications like diabetes and osteoporosis.
Willow has already overcome many obstacles in life that arise from her Spectrum disorder. With her parents Adam and Paige guiding her, and helping her at every turn, she has flourished and attends a selective Performing Arts School. Considering she doesn’t like talking to people and loud noises make her withdraw it’s an achievement on its own.
Adam has always been here for everyone in the Hospitality sector, and now I’m asking for you guys to be there for him and his family.
A lifetime of ongoing care is expensive. We have started a fundraising campaign to help ease the burden of what is going to be a monumental effort emotionally, mentally and financially for the Mowbray family.
Please post it to you social media to promote this cause. I can’t think of a person or family more deserving of love and support, and I wouldn’t write this from my heart to you if it wasn’t one of the most important things I can do to help someone in my life.
God bless and soon this beautiful family will be reunited again with Willow healthy again.
