Hello I'm Aether I am a 19 years old and non-binary trans masc, which means I identify as neither male nor female but present as more masculine. My pronouns are he/they. I have been suffering with Gender Dysphoria for several years, bind my chest, and have been on testosterone for almost 4 years. I have also been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder level 2. My mental health has been pretty bad, having developed severe general anxiety, social anxiety and depression. I love acting, playing the ukelele, singing, creating theatre props, cosplay, digital art, and gaming (including game design). I've been performing onstage since I was 8 years old. I hope to enrol in a game design course later this year as that is what I want to do as a career. I regularly sees a fantastic affirming GP, a great psychologist and psychiatrist who all support my transition. Yesterday I saw a very fabulous plastic surgeon about much-needed top surgery (breast removal). This surgery will help immensely with reducing the severe dysphoria I experience every day, and benefit my mental health, self-esteem and general physical and mental wellbeing. My mum has cared for me and homeschooled me on her own for 12 years. She has also battled with poor mental health and carer burnout but continues to support me in every way she can. Unfortunately, due to our poor financial situation, it will take us years to save for this surgery. Gender dysphoria is a very painful thing for me in my daily life. It affects me both physically and mentally and makes it way harder than it needs to be to do things that most take for granted. Showering, exercising, relaxing, hanging out with friends, going to events, etc. are all affected in some way and most of it goes completely unseen by those around me. I am so grateful towards everyone who is supportive of me and my transition. It's been such a long process and it's still going. Top surgery is the next big step to becoming comfortable in my own skin. One way to describe it is feeling like currently there's a parasite attached to me and this is the solution to get rid of it.
