For my birthday this year, I'm raising funds to help Fatemeh gain independence by providing her with an electric wheelchair instead of her usual one.
Fatemeh has been struggling with mobility issues and moving around with her usual non-electric wheelchair.
I have known Fatemeh for more than fifteen years; she is the daughter of my best friend who lives in Iran. I remember whenever we met I always admired her for being so patient with everything in her life.
Although, I was shocked and saddened when I saw her story on Instagram last week. She expressed a desire to end her life, which broke my heart.
I contacted her mother, Maryam, to find out what was going on and we talked for hours. Since then, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Fatemh. As I know that Fatemeh still uses a non-electric wheelchair that doesn’t provide enough mobility for her.
I believe that this fundraising campaign could give her hope that her life matters to many people, including us.
She is hoping to regain her mental and physical health soon.
