Walk 4 Women - Enough is Enough! 55laps for 55 women lost in 2022 A response to women being killed in Australia. There are a devastating number of women killed violently in Australia every year, we finally decided Enough is Enough. So far the number of women who have been killed this year is 55 and 52 of them were killed by men. Of those 43 were killed by men to known to them. Its not ok. The Walk 4 Women event to be held on Friday 30th December aims to highlight this in a unique way by creating a powerful visual representation of the statistic whilst also honouring the women lost to violence. Starting at 4am, the organiser, Sharyn, will walk 55 laps the Bondi Promenade. However, at each end she will be joined by another woman to walk with her. Throughout the day and at the end of each lap women will join the walk culminating in 55 women walking lap 55 altogether. She is calling for women to join her on the walk by nominating the number of laps they are willing and able to walk. It provides an opportunity for women of all ages and ability to participate. Some might only be able to walk 6 laps, some can do 46. We already have women ranging from 18-76 registered to participate in this walk. The event is exclusively for women to walk however we are also recruiting volunteers - male and female - to provide support and logistics throughout the very long day, starting at 4am and aiming to finish at 5.30pm. In addition there is a lot to pull together in a short space of time and a lot of things needed for the day for the walkers including food, drinks, sunscreen just to name a few. Your support will help make this event a success and help keep the conversation about these statistics at the forefront of our country’s agenda for real equality . 55 women woke up this year not knowing it would be the last time they would. This is not ok, this needs to stop. Enough is enough!
