Harley Windsor is Australia's first Indigenous Winter Olympian., making his debut appearance at 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. Harley and then skate partner Katya shot through the ranks winning the Junior world championships, among other tournaments to qualify for the Olympics within a very short period of time. Since then there have been many challenges and lots of sadness with the sudden death of Katya in Moscow in July 2020, aged just 21. With the trauma, grief and sorrow to follow, it took some time for Harley to continue with his passion and professional sporting career. Earlier this year, Harley found a new skating partner to compete with Maria. Normally based in Moscow to train fulltime, the result of war in Russia he and Maria were forced back to Australia to live and train. This poses many many hurdles and struggles to continue to train and skate without coaches in Australia, travelling from Western Sydney (Mt Druitt) to Canterbury ice rink each day to train. Harley has also started coaching and teaching to earn some money to pay for living costs/ travel/ training, which is quiet challenging when they are both required to train 8hrs a day to meet standards for competition and the world standings level. I am Harleys sister. And reaching out in respect to ask for some support to help Harley and Maria continue the dream to the next winter olympics. If we are unable to overcome some financial challenges there is a big risk of them having to give up.
