The Mackie Cup is back again for a second edition in 2022.
On AFL Grand Final Day (24 September) @ Gilbert Fraser Reserve, North Fremantle, we will be playing a charity football match to honor our great mate Andrew MacPherson. Following the game, the AFL Grand Final will be shown on big screens with full bar facilities, beer garden, live band and more.
All profits from the event will again be donated to The Kai-Fella Foundation, helping early intervention to prevent suicides and save young people’s lives. Last year, The Mackie Cup raised $56,245, enabling over 3,300 young people to attend the Kai-Fella workshops.
This year, we are also striving to help with the understanding of CTE by raising awareness of the Australian Sports Brain Bank (ASBB) via the 'Pledge Your Brain' initiative. The ASBB is committed to researching the long-term effects of concussion on the brain, with a view to develop a new means of diagnosis of the brain disease during life, and its treatment. To find out more, visit www.brainbank.org.au.
The best way you can support the event is by attending on the day. However, if you can't make it or would prefer to donate in advance, donations via this page will go directly to the cause. No amount is too small.
Thanks for your support and please spread the word - everyone and anyone is welcome.
We provide free workshops in schools and clubs that allow young people to talk about their challenges without judgement and providing strategies to build emotional muscle with peer support.
