Julian is currently being detained in HM Prison Belmarsh which is one of the UK's harshest prison. Only the most hardened criminals are housed here, murderers and terrorists, it is no place for an academic and journalist. Julian has been locked up in solitary confinement-like conditions of over 3 years. On July 3rd it will be Julian's 51st Birthday, his thrid consecutive birthday spend behind bars in Belmarsh. The US government has been relentlessly persuing this case to extradite Julian Assange. In January 2022, Julian Assange lost his appeal at the UK High Court. This now means he can be extradited to the US were he faces up to 175 years imprisonment for exposing truthful US War Crimes. But before that can happen the Home Secretary of the UK Priti Patel must sign off on this decision. For the first time this is NOW strictly a political matter. We now have, for the first time in three years, an opportunity to effect positive change and have the extradition of Julian Assange dropped.
