Single mother Cecile Dehant and her young children Nayara and Hayan have devastatingly been displaced after the Northern Rivers floods which ravaged their home in Mullumbimby last week. Waking them up in the early hours of the morning, quickly the flood came through their house, with most of their belongings, their car and home being destroyed. It will be some time before their home will be habitable again pending construction.
They are now in temporary crisis accommodation but will need support for the months to come to get back on their feet. Cecile, who has nurtured and held the Byron Shire as a bodyworker therapist, is accustomed to giving and being of service, and has welcomed receiving help with gratitude in her and the kids’ time of need, after giving her community so much devotion and attention in her practice. Unfortunately, Cecile’s home clinic got damaged as well – she requires support to hire a clinic room to work out of in this time, to repair items that can be salvaged, to replace what is replaceable from their devastated home, including their car, and to cover living expenses for her and the kids.
Cecile is a tremendously hard worker with a dependent and loyal clientele in the Northern Rivers who she wishes to be able to support once she & her children have recovered from the trauma of the floods, so getting back to work is imperative.
Cecile, Nayara & Hayan would like to pay acknowledge & pay respect to the Bundjalung & Arakwal original people of the Bundjalung Nation for the beautiful home that they have resided in until now, with hope that the universe and our wonderful community at home, far and wide – can extend support to this beautiful family at this harrowing time, and open a new, safe and secure chapter for them.
Sending you and your fam prayers of ease and grace xx
