On February 18th 2022, I will embark on the physically hardest challenge of my life to date. I will be a solo entrant in the 'Oscars 100 Hut 2 Hut', running 100 km over 10 peaks around the Mt Buller-Howitt national park. This is argued to be one of the most difficult 100 km races in Australia with 5770 m of elevation change in ascent and descent.
The organisers of this event are committed towards raising money to improve the lives of children with autism. Personally, when bad things happen to children, I feel the injury is multiplied. I think this because children are the most undeserving of injury, but unfortunately these things happen.
Autism affects children's ability to communicate and socialise making our fast-paced lives much more difficult for them. It is a lifelong disorder with no known cure, but that isn't to say we can't help. We can raise funds together to support the families and children effected by autism through specialised education and therapy.
If you would like to support this cause, perhaps skip the morning coffee, and direct the money towards this charity as every dollar counts and is warmly welcomed.
To start my fundraising, I will not eat for 120 hrs (from 22nd- 27th of October) and donate all the money saved on food towards this cause myself. From there I start training for the Oscars 100 Hut 2 Hut run (doctor didn't like it but said it's fine).
Much love, your friend,
Andy
