January 2018, after a year of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation for Breast Cancer, I stood at Skipjack point (Shark Bay) and remembered a conversation I’d had 10 years prior, with a guy who had kayaked from Denham to Monkey Mia. The idea of this had captivated me but seemed too difficult to organise and achieve. Hearing the words ‘you have cancer’ is a sure-fire way to make you re-evaluate, life is way too short to not make dreams reality. 3 years later; 3 Kayakers with the land support of the marvellous Berit and Helko, this dream is developing to reality. So on the 24th October, Brad, Mathias and I will start the journey from Denham to Monkey Mia, we have allowed 7 days, with the hope to make it in 6. It’s one of my crazier ideas and will challenge our resilience and stamina, much like Cancer treatments do. So, if you’d be able to spare a few dollars, to keep us motivated to keep on kayaking, we’re fundraising for Breast Care WA who provide support to many people during trying times.
