Spirit of Giving to Nat

Natalie was born in Canberra Hospital on the 3rd June 2000 at 31 weeks gestation, weighing in at 1070 grams (2 pound 6 ounces) which is a roughly little over a kilogram of sugar. She was premature due complications with her growth and development whilst going through the third trimester of my mothers pregnancy, Nat was so petite and tiny.

Nat remained in Canberra Hospital until her 'full-term' date which was roughly 6-8 weeks after her birth. Upon on her stay, she had tests after tests which included MRI scans, spinal taps, oxygen to assist with her breathing which was followed by her diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy (Spastic Quadriparesis).

Over the years, Nat was diagnosed with various medical conditions such as Epilepsy, Cortical Visual Impairment (profoundly blind) and non-verbal.

Everyday is a challenge for Nat, however, she is a very bright, bubbly young woman and continues to be the best she can with minimal mobility due to being wheelchair bound. Her smile lights up the room and her presence brings so much joy too many lives.

I have created this fundraiser in support of Natalie's day to day life once the COVID-19 restrictions lift in the state. Whilst this fundraiser is active for 5 weeks, I will be taking on a daily 5km challenge, whether that be a run or walk. These funds will assist Natalie in activities and resources such as:
- Assistance with hiring transport to have a day out that allows her wheelchair to fit comfortably
- Assistance with accommodation that fits her needs when her carers or our family take her on a visit to explore another city/town
- Assistance with payment for experiences such as the zoo, museum or botanical garden

Not only will these funds go towards getting Natalie the required assistance, but most importantly, it will give her the experience and excitement which will be received as a gift to Nat.
