Tammy’s Road to Recovery On Saturday afternoon, 4th September, our gorgeous friend Tammy suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed at home. Her fiancé Shane worked on her until the ambulance arrived and stayed by her side at Batemans Bay Hospital, the staff were amazing and did everything they could to keep her alive until the Critical Care Team flew her to Canberra ICU. Tam was placed into an induced coma, on life support, the machines were pumping her heart and she was unable to breathe on her own.
6th September - Monday morning the medical team started to bring Tammy out of her coma and by late morning she is breathing on her own and talking, only a few words, but knew who Shane was. Tam has memory loss and Dr’s are hoping that it improves in the next 24-48 hrs. Ash and Bill were able to speak to their mum finally via phone after a long and agonising wait.
8th September – The Cardiac Team have found she has prolonged QTC, a heart rhythm condition, she has relaxed heart muscles and an irregular heartbeat. The Neurological Team advised she has had a silent stroke; they will be running many more tests along with the cardiac team. There has been minimal change in Tammy’s memory but after more scans late today we may know more in coming days.
Bill is still waiting for his exemption to see his Mum and Ashlea is hoping to come from Perth as soon as she can.
We are hoping this page will help Tammy cover her ongoing medical expenses, aid her rehabilitation and living costs as she won’t be able to return to work in the near future. Tam has a very long road to recovery.
Tam will not like us to be fussing over her (we all know that) but if you can help in any small way from afar to ease the expenses for Tam, so she can just concentrate on recovering we will be forever grateful.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days and weeks, keep sending those positive vibes to our much-loved Tam❤
Get well soon so we can catch up and have a laugh.
