On Wednesday the 18th of August Jacob come home from school with a headache, by the next morning Jacob was still suffering from the headache with concern his mum took Jacob to the hospital were his was diagnosed with Viral Meningitis, Jacob was treated and seemed to get a little better. Over the course of the next few day Jacob didn't get better but nor did he get worst, however by day 5 with no improvement the hospital started to test for other potential causes like tuberculosis ect as he was no t esponding to the course of antibiotics like they hoped. Over the next 3 days Jacob starting to go down hill after several spinal taps, brain and spine MRIs, CT Scans, X-rays and numerous blood test doctor still do not have answer, as Jacobs condition worsened the call was made to move Jacob to the Children's Hospital and placed in the ICU. By day 9 a large amount of white blood cells were found in his spinal fluid an infection had started. The hospital suspected his immune system was attacking itself and started treatment. By day 10/11 there was still no improvement to Jacobs condition, he was constantly spiking fevers or going as low as hypothermia, his heart rate and pulse keep fluctuating from high to low. By the end of day 11 the decision was made to place Jacob into a medically induced coma and be put on life support to give his body a rest. Testing has continued as they still are yet to find the reason for all this. In the past 3 days he has under gone multiple MRIs, CT Scans, Blood test, Brain Biopsy, Brain shunt placed to release pressure off his brain and many many more tests. He is still currently in the Coma while doctors and specialist do there absolute best to help him.
