I helped a friend out financially a few years ago but he done a runner with the money I'd lent him. When I eventually found where he lived (14 months later), I sent a debt collector around to his new residence.
When the debt collector paid him a visit, he just declared bankruptcy which was almost instantly granted. The only thing he got right on his application was his name, everything else was simply not true, including:-
1) Residential address was a previous address, not the current one.
2) Sold the asset which was the one which I'd financed, but didn't disclose to whom the asset was sold and was not required to provide a bill of sale or similar documentation.
3) Did not declare previous assets within the 5-year period before declaring bankruptcy.
4) Tried to hide a major asset which I was only made aware of through a conversation with a Senior QLD Police Service detective.
5) Changed his story daily in responses to AFSA (Australian Financial Security Authority) inquiries.
All these issues were reported to AFSA who went out of their way to dismiss them and actually lied in responses back to me (for which I have proof) and condoned double standards (for which I also have proof).
I have been as patient as anything in trying to deal with all this and have also been told by AFSA that I'm not allowed to communicate with them either by email or telephone.
I also went to the Ombudsman who also went out of their way to protect AFSA by refusing to address the issues which I'd raised.
