Raising funds for: Louisa Lawson Statue Project
Louisa Lawson was an early feminist and women's rights campaigner in NSW. Born in Mudgee NSW she founded The Dawn, Australia's first magazine devoted to women and women's issues, opened Australia's first refuge for women fleeing domestic violence and spearheaded the Suffragette movement in NSW. This Project is being coordinated by the Rotary Club of Mudgee to achieve a lasting recognition of her outstanding contribution to the women's movement with the erection of a beautiful statue in the Mudgee CBD.

We are thrilled to report that with a donation from our local Council, we have passed the halfway mark of our fundraising goal of $100K! To help us get to the goal, the internationally renowned artist and sculptor commissioned to do the statue, Margot Stephens, (who lives not far from where Louisa had her small farm), has crafted a few bronze maquettes and designed a commemorative medallion, also crafted in bronze. These limited pieces of art are available in return for a substantial donation. You could own an original Margot Stephens and support a worthy cause at the same time! Go to https://louisalawson.org.au/ to find out more!

To all our wonderful donors, we thought you may like to see the bronze maquette of the Louisa Lawson Statue you have so generously donated to. The internationally acclaimed artist, Margot Stephens (also a Mudgee woman) is behind this magnificent piece of art. Our local Council, the Mid-Western Council gave us a $40,000 contribution last week, so we are now halfway to our goal. Please share our project with as many people as you like so we can bring Louisa home to Mudgee as soon as possible

Hi Louisa supporters, Thank you so much for your support of our project to honour Louisa Lawson. There is some progress to report - the maquette is being bronzed as we speak and the artist, Margot Stephens has agreed to 8 more being produced as limited edition collector's items! If you are interested in knowing more about how you can have your very own Margot Stephens sculpture celebrating one of Australia's great women, then please reach out to me at bernadetteeichner@gmail.com or phone me on 0417 488 654. In the meantime, please feel free to share our campaign as widely as you can! Cheers, Bernadette Eichner
