Type 1 diabetes has no known cause or cure. It presents many challenges in life to stay alive and healthy.

Help me raise awareness and funds for type 1 Diabetes and the DANII Foundation. I have been lucky enough to have been provided with a 12 month CGM Scholarship through the DANII Foundation.
I am challenging myself to the Tatts Finke Desert Race is an off road, multi terrain two-day race for bikes, cars, buggies and quads through desert country from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community. The race is 450km round trip.
CGM makes it safer and more manageable. 3hrs (one way) I average 90/ 100klm per hour with some faster sections. I have night scout system in conjunction with the pump and CGM. Which I read BGL levels while riding. Its phone mounted on my handle bars. I use a twin bladder camelback. One drink for hydration and one with orange juice to drink when I see my BGLl drop below certain levels to avoid hypoglycaemia.
Lots of training and preparation has gone into this event, I’ve done this a few times so I know what I am in for and I’m really looking forward to the start line.
Finishing is a feat in itself. Nothing compared to the challenged I face everyday living with Type 1 Diabetes.
