Crohns is not just a tummy disease, it can affect your entire digestive tract.
Just some of the ways Crohns has affected and changed my life:
* My Diet, Currently i have no red mean, refined sugars, no fruits, and very little alcohol. ( at time however i have had to be on a complete liquid diet to manage extreme pain) *Mental health *Made me malnourished and in need to be hospitalised * Affected my strength and caused joint pain * Fatigue * Unable to attend events due to symptoms * A rollercoaster of side effects due to medications * Insomnia * Given me ongoing bottom pain * Tooth pain
Crohns and colitis effects people in so many different ways and for some they never find a medication that help and daily activities like taking a shower, or getting dressed can seem too hard. For some they need ongoing surgeries to maintain their symptoms.
There is still no cure for Crohns or Colitis. IBD can take a tremendous toll on all aspects of physical, mental health as well as impacting family members. Crohns and Colitis Australia invest in research for a cure as well as providing education, advice and support services to people living with IBD and their families.
Crohns and Colitis is not talked about enough and one of the reasons being it is a topic no one wants to talk about! It takes guts to talk about IBD. While i have hope for a cure I equally have hope for awareness. For me that means that 4 in 5 people will know what Crohns and Colitis is.
If we raise $5000 My husband Joe will change his diet and cut out red meats and refined sugars - two things that i find really flare up my symptoms and have not yet been able to re introduce into my diet ( and i love my meat :( )
Join me to help raise money and awareness today so we can get closer to a cure.
My story in short... Last year when i was diagnosed i was at my worst, i was going to the toilet 15+ times a day and most of the time quite literally not making it there.
Very soon after being diagnosed and being told I had quite server Crohns, I was tried on 3 different Crohns medications and failed them all. I was in a very dark place, loosing hope and feeling like i was just watching people live their life. Simple tasks like reading my children a book even became too hard as the pain was indescribable.
July 2020 saw me be admitted to hospital as i became unable to hold in even any liquids. It was around this time i was put on a biologic which has slowly started to give me some hope again. ......
