I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at the age of 8 and spent most of my childhood in and out of hospital trying to get the illness under control. My colon was removed at the age of 10 and I endured multiple major surgeries over the next 8 years. At the age of 28, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and will need to be on life-long medication to treat this disease.
May is Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Awareness Month. This month I strive to beat the fatigue from Crohn’s and complete a task many take for granted, so please support me to raise funds for Crohn’s and Colitis Australia (CCA) as I go for a 20 minute walk with my dog, Pixie, every day from the 1st to the 31st of May.
Unfortunately there is no cure for IBD. Living with IBD can take a tremendous toll on all aspects of physical and mental health as well as impacting family members. CCA invest in research for a cure as well as providing education, advice and support services to people living with IBD and their families and is therefore a great Australian organization to get behind and fundraise for.
We will endeavour to post as much content as possible over this period on our Instagram accounts and aim to find different routes each day. You can follow our journey on IG @_niitaaa_ @pixie.the.doxie
Thank you! All your support is greatly appreciated.
Since 1985, Crohn’s & Colitis Australia has been empowering the 180,000 Australian men, women and children living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis – collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) – to live fearlessly.
