About

Join us and our Community Partners from 26th April 2021 to 6th May 2021, to raise vital funds to support our community’s young people.

We invite you to the Rotary Club of Belmont headspace Geelong Social Inclusion 2021 Appeal.

Join us and our Community Partners from 26th April 2021 to 6th May 2021, to raise vital funds to support our community’s young people through our headspace Geelong Social Inclusion Project.

The Barwon community as a whole has felt the impacts of COVID-19, and our young people in particular have experienced a very challenging 12 months.

Through the 2021 Appeal, we aim to raise funds which would enable the headspace Social Inclusion Project to be delivered for a further 12 months. This would positively impact many young people in our community who require support – now, more than ever.

COVID-19 has had an impact on our community's young people, and the Social Inclusion Project

COVID-19 has impacted significantly on local young people.

Notable adverse mental health impacts experienced by our young people over the past year include:

  • increased levels of anxiety;
  • social isolation;
  • depression;
  • challenges related to changed models for schooling;
  • increased youth unemployment;
  • increased levels of family distress and conflict; and
  • a loss of access to preventative mental health resources such as sport, recreation, and in-person peer and family engagement

But you can help.

All funds raised will directly support the Social Inclusion Project, a program focusing on early intervention for complex, isolated and hard to engage young people. It is delivered via an outreach-based service, allowing young people to engage in a service where they feel comfortable and safe in discussing their mental health outside of a clinical environment.

In the past eight months alone, the Social Inclusion Project has supported the mental wellbeing of young people aged 12-25.

Mental health is the number one issue of concern for young people in Australia today. Addressing the increasing demand in youth mental health is a resource that is needed now, more than ever.

All donations, large or small, will make a real difference to young people in our community.
