This cause is essentially to raise money to pay back and thank those that have carried me through this incredibly difficult time of unforeseen circumstances and horrible health.
I started 2020 as most of us did - working, happy, not a care in the world (Note this isn't some Covid story)
I returned to Australia from my life abroad for my bother's wedding with the intent to go back afterwards.
Covid it and well everything had to be put on hold.
But that was ok, I had some savings and go myself back into employment to wait out the time. I was a functional member of society again.
By late October was when it all began...I came down with a foot issue and was taken to hospital. After a week of care and treatment, I was discharged with a prescription and began the recovery process. It was then it all happened...My GP at the time decided to ignore all the previous tests and treat my problem with medication that was not necessary and was deemed useless as the issue the medicine was treating was already ruled out...But the GP treated it with a new prescription of meds anyway.
Less than a week later, I was in hospital vomiting blood as I had reacted horribly to the new useless prescription.
I spent weeks in the hospital living on multiple tubes. Some taking fluid in and others removing fluid out of my body.
Pretty much for the last 5 months, I have been in and out of hospital...I sometimes get a week, other times I luckily get almost a month...But it keeps coming back to the hospital vomiting blood again. I pretty much spend my days living between the toilet and my bedside now, with short periods of relaxation followed by violent explosions form all orifices (Sorry to paint a picture, but that is my life now).
Because of this, I lost my job...I was unable to continue work and with no end in sight, the position could not be held for me.
Because of weekly appointments with GP's, specialists, prescriptions, CT, X-Ray and MRI scans, my finances have been crippled. I had to refund my rental and make a permanent home at my mothers apartment. To keep up with the medical bills, I borrowed money from my brother and mother and have exhausted all my savings.
I have tried to find employment sending multiple daily applications to jobs...But with my current health situation, it is pretty difficult to employ me...To make matters worse, as my situation is not permanent, I do not qualify for medical pension or employment assistance, but due to my medical issues, I do not qualify for regular assistance either...I am between a rock and hard place right now.
Legally, I have been informed that it would be a very difficult battle to fight this in court and would have to front fees up to $10,000 to begin the case...Money I dont have.
Pretty much my life went from great to rock bottom over a short time and will take half a year to finally smooth out.
Now I can pick myself back up...Yes it has been depressing as hell, but the big problem is giving back to thiose that assisted me as soon as possible.
as mentioned, I borrowed money from siblings for medical bills and my mother has bended over backward to feed, house and assist 24/7 with me essentially costing her food, time and bills (Especially hot water, as I shower close to 8 times a day to clean the bloody mess off myself)
I know as family, they don't care about the money....But I do...It burdens me daily to think about everything they have done for me and I know in my situation, it will be a long time before I am well enough to repay them.
So this cause is to raise money to pay them back and say thank you for everything.
I cant thank anyone enough for assisting in this cause and know that good people who wanted nothing in return will be recieving any kindness you can spare.
